Spox says Putin asks for oil companies’ view before OPEC+ meeting

MOSCOW, Mar 2 (PRIME) -- President Vladimir Putin has met with the leading Russian oil companies to discuss a visit by Energy Minister Alexander Novak to Vienna for a meeting the OPEC plus nonmember oil output reduction agreement states, spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

“This meeting did not mean to make any decisions. As you know, meetings to consider production reduction under the OPEC+ deal will be held this week, in the middle of this week, our Prime Minister Novak will head to Vienna,” Peskov said.

“It was ahead of this trip, ahead of these contacts they met to check their positions, exchange the opinions on the influence on the global economy, the trend, the fuel price effect of the coronavirus situation. And this exchange of opinions, this conversation has been held.”

The official also said that the president’s schedule does not contain negotiations with the secretary general of OPEC and with the authorities of Saudi Arabia.
